Session Description: Mena and Zena Nasiri are two Muslim girls who are striving to make a difference in the world. They are avid readers and spend a lot of time in school media centers and in the local public library. However, they could rarely find books with female Muslim main characters that they could connect with, and grew up longing to see themselves in literature. To address this issue, they held a book drive in our community to increase the number of books with female Muslim roles in our school media centers. They decided to expand our reach and started this nonprofit organization. Their goal is to make sure that children like us will be able to read books with characters like themselves and to increase diversity in literature. This is their amazing story, which has been featured on the Today show. Andy Yang will share about global education from a students' persepective.
